BJP government failed to provide security for Kashmiri Pandits, Congress says

Congress accused the BJP government on Saturday of failing to provide security for Kashmiri pundits in Jammu and Kashmir after another youth was murdered in Shopian.

“Very sad! Another Kashmiri Pandit Puran Krishna Bhat has been murdered in Jammu and Kashmir. The killing of Kashmiri Pandits is not stopping and Modi government has failed to provide them with safety.

“There are reports that the administration is pressuring the family to perform the last rites sooner. It’s shameful,” Congress said in a tweet in Hindi.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Sujit Kumar said the Kashmir Freedom Fighter (KFF), the proxy name for a militant group, claimed responsibility for Bhat’s murder.

Bhat was attacked near his residence in the southern district of Kashmir. He was rushed to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead, they said.

Less than two months ago, another Kashmiri pandit named Sunil Kumar Bhat was shot dead by terrorists in an apple orchard in Shopian. His brother Pintu Kumar was injured in the shooting.
